Happy Friday!
Here is a look at one of the activities we did this week: Field trip to the Confluence!
Learning Intentions:
While the programs we did addressed learning intentions in English Language Arts, Science, Math, I will include specifically the Social Studies intentions to save room.
Grade 3: Social Studies
- Students investigate natural and created features of Alberta.
- Students explore how diverse people contribute to the identity of Alberta.
- Students explore Alberta’s identity.
Grade 4: Social Studies
- Students investigate changes in Canada’s political boundaries.
- Students examine significant historical events that contribute to the formation of the country of Canada.
- Students investigate right and responsibilities in Canada.
We explored the museum at the Confluence, which taught us about the early life of the settlers of Alberta. We got to see what pharmacies looked, items people would have in their kitchens and what their kitchens looked like. We then got to explore various artefacts and try and figure out who they would have belonged to: settlers, RCMP officers, First Nations people or Metis.
Holiday Book Exchange
A letter went home today about a holiday book exchange we will be doing in our classrooms. Please read through carefully and try and have your wrapped gently used book in before Monday, December 16th. We plan to exchange these books on our last day and hopefully enjoy starting to read them together.
Reminders:
- Winter Concert is this Thursday, December 12th. Please see the paragraph from Ms. McMillan on the WAAG for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend!
-Ms. Mostaghel 😁
